Is there any advice for defeating a stiff-arm defense that is higher up on the tori, such as when the defensive player places one of his hands on the lapel, but much farther up on the gi near the side of tori's neck, or even behind tori's neck where it would be difficult to attack the defenders wrist?

I just viewed the defeating a stiff-arm defense and plan to practice this in class. This particular video deals with a stiff-arm defense that is lower on the tori, in front on the lapels. Is there any advice for defeating a stiff-arm defense that is higher up on the tori, such as when the defensive player places one of his hands on the lapel, but much farther up on the gi near the side of tori's neck, or even behind tori's neck where it would be difficult to attack the defenders wrist?

I believe that hiring more bloggers to be part of TechCrunch resulted in the, uh, “explosion”. Gabe Rivera explained that this(ie going Pro) was one of the reasons TC was given more weight on Techmeme.

I am a left handed player who often fights right handers. One problem I have is getting inside because of our fighting lapel grips. It makes it difficult for me to get past my own arm. Is there anything you can suggest for getting inside past a left v right kenka yotsu situation?

I can comfortably put it in my pocket, and I find that the soft keyboard is just as good as the g1’s physical keyboard. And all of you crackberry addicts whining about two-thumbed typing, I do it all the time on my iphone and I’m about 10x faster that way, probably about as fast as I was on the g1.

See, I think the g1 was actually a better option for me, but the iPhone is a dramatically better option for her, and my geek snobbery loses out to her practicality. It’s also true that the device itself is much better — I can comfortably put it in my pocket, and I find that the soft keyboard is just as good as the g1’s physical keyboard. This is a great site--keep up the awesome work. I really liked the instruction on defeating a stiff-arm defense, and wonder if you could add to that for a shorter player versus a significantly taller one. I'm 5'3", and the stiff arm I face is generally a strong right hand high on my left collar forcing my head and left shoulder down. I have trouble attacking the wrist with my shoulder from this position. Any suggestions for how we vertically challenged judoka might deal with this would be most welcome! Thanks.
